Interview Tips

Objective of an Interview – Sell yourself as the number 1 candidate for the position.

Questions to Ask:

First focus on the client’s needs – Ask them what are the job responsibilities and duties they are looking for this individual to perform.

Ask them to describe the current technologies they are utilizing in the project.

What would you want me to accomplish in the first 6 months working with the company?

Can you describe the current make up of the group?

IMPORTANT:  Really focus on what the client is looking for then pull from your experience and give the client REAL WORLD EXAMPLES.

Such as “I in the past have worked on a similar project doing _____.”  You need to sell them on the fact that you can do the job!

Questions you should be prepared to answer:

  • Reasons for leaving your current company
  • What are you looking for out of a job?
  • What are you looking for in the way of salary?
  • What are your strengths?
  • What are your weaknesses?

It is a good idea to think about how you would answer these questions.  I also recommend you think about your work history and what you’ve done to this point.  Think about what you have accomplished so far in your career that you are most proud of, what was the most challenging.

Conclusion:

Always thank the potential employer for their time.  Let them know if you are interested in the position and would like to know the next step.  Create positive energy!

Other questions to ask to get good information:

  • Why did they join the company?
  • What do they like most about their company?
  • Where do they see this project heading in the future?

REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN AND BE YOURSELF!
